What is summer swimming?
A summer swim club is a club whose organized aquatic program occurs between May 1 and August 30 each year, Unlike the winter clubs which train and practice practically all year round. Our club swims from mid- May to mid- August and are members of BCCSA. Winter program is also offered through our club from September to April.
What does it mean to be an "S" swimmer?
"S" Summer - swimmer who participates in aquatic activity during the summer season and doesn't accumulate more than two hours a calendar week during the winter season.
what about "O" swimmer?
"O" Winter - swimmer who participated in organized aquatic activity during the winter season (October 1-April 30) for more than two hours a calendar week.
What swim programs do you offer?
Surrey Sea Lions offers speed swimming, water polo and artistic swimming programs in Summer season (May to August). In Winter season, we only offer speed swimming program.
what is the two hour rule?
To remain in the "S" category, a swimmer can not participate in coached swimming for more than 2 hours per week from October 1st to April 30th. There are some exemptions to this rule, such as school swim teams and Red Cross swim lessons. More information can be found on BCSSA website or email [email protected].

What is a swim meet?
A swim meet is a competition where swimmers race against each other in various strokes and distances, aiming to achieve the best times. It includes individual and relay events, with participants competing to improve their performance and earn rankings.

Surrey Sea Lions Summer Swim Club is a non-profit organization. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Club, and your dedication is vital to our success. By volunteering, you’re making a significant impact on the lives of young swimmers. Your time, skills, and enthusiasm help create a positive, inclusive environment where kids can learn, grow, and thrive in the sport of swimming.
Can i choose which event to swim in a meet?
Group coaches will choose the events for each swim meet, but may accept requests from swimmers to change events if there is sufficient reason to do so.
how many meets does a swimmer need to attend?
We recommend that swimmers attend as many meets as is realistic for their schedules and skill level. Experience racing at swim meets is valuable, so we encourage swimmers to attend as many meets as possible. If a swimmer choses to race at a particular meet, he or she does not have to attend both days. We do recommend thath all swimmers attend our home meet Surrey Sea Lions Invitational in July.
when will i know if i am in a relay?
Our Coaches will form the relay team in the morning of each meet day and post a list at our home camp.
when do i need to arrive for swim meet?
Each swim meet is different. The Head Coach will send an email to all swimmers on Thursday or Friday to confirm the arrival time and warmup schedule.
