All I can say is WOW! I am almost speechless on how proud and happy I am from the efforts of you swimmers the weekend. You guys did an amazing job! Your parents also did one amazing job as well.
Here are some statistics on our meet that makes me so excited for the years to come. The Surrey Sea Lions are making a comeback and Fraser South knows that. First off, out of the 43 swimmers we have in our team (if I counted correctly) we had 37 of them show up and participate in the meet. That is an 86% turn out which is just amazing. I am hoping that this trend continues and we can get an even higher percentage for next year. Maybe get above 90%???? I also went back and checked the amount of swimmers that have came to our home meet since 2012 and we had more swimmer this weekend then we have had in the past three years combined. As well as more than doubling the 15 from last year. So great job Sea Lions. We are getting into our peak competition time of the season. This week will still be tough for my kids but next week we will start to taper off going into regionals. I remind the swimmers (as well as parents) that you need to be getting to bed early over the next two weeks. Your sleep in very important for your resting and your energy levels going into these competitions. I also know it is summer and you still want to do lots of activities but try to refrain from too many tiring activities. Tell your parents that this is the one time of the year that you can sit in front of the tv, Coach Brandon says so. However don't spend the entire day do some sort of outside activity that is light in demand. We all need our fresh air. Lastly what I want to touch on is about the events at regionals. As a coach I am greedy and I want as many kids as possible to be going to provincials. So us coaches are looking online at the standings of the region and province and deciding who will be swimming what and who will be put on a relay. Remember that you swimmers and parents can suggest events to us but we have the final say. We are the coaches and we know what is best for the swimmers. As Robby would say Sea Lions lets here you Roar!! Coach Brandon
