Mid-Season Report from Coach Robby

Thank you athletes for all your hard work and to the parents for making sure they arrive on time every day. The pace the athletes can keep up now is a real testament to their youthful endurance. The focus for our group throughout the season will continue to be on technique with a focus on good kick. Completing kick sets correctly is at the top of our list of priorities. Also, everyday, we talk about our shark fin arms for freestyle. It is important that we continue these drills for technique in this early stage so that as the athletes grow they are race ready with both good technique and endurance.

Going forward into these next few weeks I would like to see our whole group sign up and be ready to attend to the July 22 Crescent Beach B meet. If we need to car pool let’s get that organized amongst the families. The other big commitment I would like to ask our group is to sign up now for our own meet, Cloverdale Triton/Surrey Sea Lions A/B meet on July 25 and 26. Athletes we can learn some cheers together and watch our team mates swim to support the whole team. Parents don’t be shy about pitching in too for the most important weekend for our club in terms of fundraising and hosting.

Your confidence and energy is infectious and with consistent practice you can trust there are some best times coming for our group this year! Bring your water, your sunscreen, and your good spirit and see you at the pool. Remember, we are going to do good kick sets everyday now – and make sure you sign up for those meets if you haven’t already. Go Sea Lions!
